About
Mission Statement
The Organized ICON Network and Cooperative (OINC) is the ICON Ph.D. Program's student organization. The mission of OINC is to develop and promote learning, research, dialogue, and active engagement in the area of Integrative Conservation. This organization is based at the University of Georgia, but seeks to increase communication and discussion with the greater academic and professional sectors involved in the research, application, or communication of conservation and sustainability science.
What do we do?
OINC does many things! Our primary intention is to serve the students of the ICON program by providing a communication space in both formal and informal settings at our monthly business meetings and Penultimate Friday Social events. The business meetings are intended to provide time for open dialogue among students about the program’s successes, failures, and official communications to the CICR Executive Committee. The Penultimate Friday Socials are organized as a more informal space for getting to know each other better outside of the academy. We meet for business on the second to last Friday of every month (September – April) at 5PM at CICR and follow up the meeting by going to happy hour downtown to socialize around 6PM.
We also organize the invitation and hosting of speakers selected by ICON students from on campus here at UGA and off campus from around the globe. Additionally, we organize and hold a student-run Symposium on Integrative Conservation (SIC) each year.
Constitution
OINC's governance is guided by our constitution, which is viewable here.
